We are so proud of our President, Wendy Kent for being named the 2024 Montgomery County Volunteer of the Year!
Wendy’s leadership role at Tommy’s Pantry evolved from her 12+ years of ongoing volunteer experience with Miriam’s Kitchen, Manna Food Center’s Choice Pantry at Four Corners, Manna Food Center’s Smart Sacks program and her work establishing and managing a food pantry at Takoma Park Middle School (TPMS). During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Wendy was instrumental in growing the food pantry at TPMS into the Tommy’s Pantry we know today.
From modestly serving about 30 families per month at the start, Tommy’s Pantry now serves more than 650 families per month.
This amazing growth is due in large part to Wendy. As many of you know, Wendy has been the driving force behind Tommy’s Pantry and we invite you to join us in congratulating her on this great honor and acknowledgement of all the hours and hard work she dedicates to helping our neighbors.
Wendy continues to inspire all of us on the Board and we are so grateful for her leadership!
