Sponsor My Race for Tommy's Pantry
This year I am taking part in the Cherry Blossom 10 miler on April 2nd to raise funds for Tommy’s Pantry. Four to five times a month, Tommy’s Pantry provides shelf-stable food, produce and hygiene products to more than 300+ low-income families in the Takoma Park and Silver Spring area.
Tommy’s pantry is very close to my heart for many reasons: it serves immigrant families from Central America, including my country El Salvador; it is run by friends and neighbors who are amazing people; it is a wonderful place for school children like my daughter to volunteer and feel part of a community that makes a difference; it is 100% volunteer operated and finally, it honors the memory of the late Tommy’s Raskin, and his legacy of kindness, love and generosity.
